the Innocent Charms.

oh man, my blog is dying. sigh* sorry i've been crazy busy for the past month. June was CRAZYY i tell you. huhu. the teaching Experience, South Island Winter Trip and with the new trimester just started last week, i could hardly breath. phew. So, let's cut the craps, i'm gonna update on what i've been up to these days.

Ok first, i'm gonna blog about my 2 weeks of teaching experience in Churton Park School, Johsonville. Waking up so early in the morning for the school, preparing for the lesson, doing the teaching and observation, interacting with associate teacher and fooling around with the kids. I gotta admit, those were pretty cool and such great experiences for me.

You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for instance. ~Franklin P. Jones

the 2 weeks time i had spent with the kids was unforgettable for me. thank you Room 9 students for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your awesome classroom. Room 9 rocks! you guys are FUN FUN FUN. gonna miss all of youuuuu. sobs sobs. And too Maree, my associate teacher, thank youu for everything. your advice, guidance are really useful for my future practices.

auwww, you're soooo sweet Ian <3 thanks too for the memories.

the girls and Me. they are soo pretty <3

Farewell Room 9 students. I just hope you guys do remember me bcause I will never ever forget you guyss <3 <3 <3

p/s: i missed my childhood days. at least being a child, i'm free to be who I am. being an adult, i will always take account of what people will say about me. People's opinions have always distracted me from being myself again. sigh. oh sorry. i shouldn't be emo. AHAHA

oh yeah, Winter trip will be updated soon :D not today i guess. So lazyyy :P

Farewell Saint Brendan's Catholic School

hello readers and bloggers,

Hopefully, the knowledge that i gained from TE will help me to become a better teacher in the future. Amin.

Saint Brendan's Catholic School Part 2

hi there.

i wanna continue on my teaching experince day 3. hehe.. on day 3, we followed the Room 5 students (Year 6,7 and 8) to Upper Hutt Intermediate School. the reason is St. Brendan is a small school and doesn't have enough facilities to cater the students. so, the students will travel to this school to learn about living skills. the students are divided into 3 groups. each group will do different living skills like craft, sewing, cooking, wood technology. the kids were totally awesome. they did so well. well, honestly, i totally suck at sewing and wood technology during my school days. for instance, i pricked my finger with a needle and i accidentally hit my hand with a hammer. haha..what a clumsy person i am :)

during art class.

they were making something out of clay. very impressive :)

during sewing class.

during wood technology class.

well, let's move to another part of this post. for the 3rd day. i was asked by Karolina to teach about Malaysia. i had prepared a slide show to teach them about the people of Malaysia and festivals they celebrate. interesting right? i was nervous like hell for the whole day. my whole body was shaking and trembling i tell you. because i'm about to teach a lesson to white kids. well, you know English is their native language where as my English is not really good. huhu.. well Tina, be confident of yourself. you can do it! Kia Kaha!

my lesson was about half an hour. and i did it! i presented my lesson with explanation and provided examples to assist the student's comprehension and to widen their general knowledge. the kids seemed interested to my lesson. i feel glad. thank God. they asked me a lotsa questions, and i gave them the answers. they were so eager asking me questions about Malaysia and Islam. i feel flattered. because the kids were so interested to know about Malaysia and Islam. i hope one day they will open their heart to embrace Islam. hope that they will understand that Islam is beautiful and Islam is the way of life.

okay. that's all i guess for part 2. to be continued. stay tune :)

Saint Brendan's Catholic School Part 1

hello pretty earthlings!

ok i'm bored. i have nothing much to do so i shall update on my teaching experience okay? i just found the right time to blog about this.

well, TE lasted for 5 days. thank god. it's only for 5 days. phew. Me, Najwa, Naia and Shud were assigned to St Brendan's Catholic School in Heretaunga, Upper Hutt. it's 45 minutes journey from the Wellington station by train. at first, i was quite nervous and worried knowing that we are about to go to Catholic school. i have a lot of questions in my mind. what if we are not welcome in there? what if they don't like us being there? what if the students ask us about our Hijab? what if they are prejudice and skeptical towards us? what if they being racist towards us? thank God. none of them happened. i feel glad. i feel totally blessed. because they (teachers + students) were super duper nice towards us. they greeted us with with warm smiles. our associated teachers were very easy to get along with and very friendly.

okay. for the 1st and 2nd day of TE. we didn't do much things. me partnered with Najwa (wawa). our associate teacher was Karolina. for the 1st and 2nd days. what we did was only the observation. we observed the teaching and learning process. we observed the students (the misbehavior they did), we observed how Karolina began and ended the lesson, we observed how Karolina managed the classroom and many more. Karolina was being very helpful to us. she did explain to us for every single thing she did during the lesson. she amazed me very much. thank you so much Karolina for the explanation, information that you have shared with us.
we totally appreciate it :)

and for the kids. they were so adorable, cute, awesome, cool and warm :) i love them very much. i think i started liking the kids. hehe.

a convo that i had with one of the kids:

Me: so, i guess you are supporting All White for the World Cup?

Kid: yeah, of course. they are doing absolutely well so far. what about you?

Me: well, Germany is my fav.

Kid: why Germany? you should be supporting Malaysia?

Me: errr, i think you are not aware that Malaysia didn't qualify for the World Cup.

Kid: ohh, so why are you supporting Germany? is Germany near Malaysia?

Me: errk..well, i love their teamwork spirit. Btw, Malaysia is not near Germany. *laugh*

i did take pictures of the classroom and the school after getting Karolina's permission. let the pics do the explanation kay?

students' artwork being displayed on the wall. cool right?

some of the student's creative paintings.

the classroom. Room 5.

the school's corridor.

the school's compound for play and recreation.

that's all i guess for part 1 of the TE. to be continued. wait for me okay?

cheers!

Me.

The school observation.

Hi there.

well, today is the most memorable day of my life. i got to experience and observed the teaching and learning process in a school in NZ. me and several fellas were assigned to Karori Normal School. we were given two classes to be observed. we got to see and experience the teaching for both younger and older children. oh my goodness. the kids are so cute. and they talked a lot =)

i was quite surprised to see the learning environment in NZ school is far different from Malaysia.

few things in NZ school that i find quite fascinating:

  1. Kids sit on the floor when the teacher is teaching.
  2. Kids work independently without much teacher's assistance.
  3. Teaching aids for example laptops are provided for each classroom. this is quite impressive for me. all laptops are from the Apple brand. whoa.
  4. Teacher does not do much talking.
  5. Kids love to raise their hands to give answers. very impressive.
  6. A lot of pupils' work being displayed on the walls.
  7. Games are carried out in the classroom. very fun. we even got to participate in the game.
  8. Pupils use dictionary to check their spellings and to find words. they don't ask the teacher to spell the words for them. they find the words independently in the dictionary.
i think i started to like kids. i have to admit that i never liked kids before. but seeing them in school today makes me ponder of how wonderful and interesting the kids are. Kids are FUN.

Kid: where are you from?

Malaysia.

Kid: Is Malaysia near Russia?

LOL. haha.
